Camp Rainbear is the only camp in the Midwest and perhaps the United States that is devoted solely to support children and families directly affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS. At this camp kids can just be kids and leave their worries aside for few days. Children do various activities throughout the day including swimming, horseback riding, feeding animals, trust activities, and art and crafts.
Thespian students volunteer as camp counselors, monitoring the activities of the students through the day. Camp Rainbear is also partly supported by donations solicited by our students at our annual Michigan Thespian Festival in December. Volunteers need to arrive by 2:00PM on Friday and will be done by 1:00PM on Sunday. All events take place at the Fowler Center (2315 Harmon Lake Road Mayville, MI 48744)
If you are interested in volunteering to work at the camp, you will need to complete and return an application, which can be found at the website below.
If you have any anecdotes, examples of PR materials, or photos that you would like to share with us from this or previous years’ campaigns, please send them to the TOTS Eat campaign chair at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thespian troupes trick or treat so kids can eat, because hunger is a very scary thing.
